Vikram Mohan is a distinguished dance practitioner known for his expertise in organic and improvisational movement, as well as his prowess as a performance maker, researcher, and filmmaker. With over two decades of experience in the field, he has garnered accolades and recognition both nationally and internationally for his contributions to contemporary dance.
Vikram's remarkable journey in the world of dance has been marked by numerous achievements and accolades. In 2018, he was honored with the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Contemporary Dance by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He has also been recognized as an Empaneled Artist by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Throughout his career, Vikram has demonstrated a remarkable versatility and innovation in his choreographic works. His production "After Death: The Spiritual Journey" garnered eight nominations at the Mahindra Excellence Theatre Awards in 2016, showcasing his ability to create impactful and thought-provoking performances.
Vikram's artistic pursuits have taken him across the globe, where he has participated in a multitude of international festivals and collaborations. He has represented India at esteemed events such as the Harvest Festival in Venlo, Netherlands, where his choreography collaboration project "Harvest Time" was performed over 300 times in six months. Additionally, he has attended the International Choreographer Week in Tilburg, Netherlands, and collaborated with artists from Kenya, Ghana, Brazil, and India on various projects.
In addition to his international endeavors, Vikram has made significant contributions to the Indian dance scene. He has choreographed over 50 plays with different directors and art genres, showcasing his versatility and adaptability as a choreographer. As a visiting lecturer, he has shared his expertise with prestigious institutions such as the National School of Drama, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh School of Drama, and Indraprastha University.
Vikram is also the founder and artistic director of Voxpop Dancers India and the India International Aerial Club. Through these platforms, he aims to promote cultural development and upliftment, especially among underprivileged children, by providing training and education in the field of art, culture, dance, and aerial acrobatics.
